Actual hurricane damage in south Texas was light. Most of the U.S. $50 million dollars´ damage was from tornadoes, 40 alone in south Texas on the 16th and 17th. Two F2 tornadoes touched down in San Antonio during the morning of the 17th. One tracked through Kelly Air Force base and did $28 million in damage. On the other hand, northeastern Mexico was hit very hard with 202 people killed and 60,000 homes destroyed. Total damage approached 2 billion dollars. |
