Dave Hamilton, author of The Urban Guide to Becoming Self-Sufficient-ish, was my guide as we foraged for my lunch. We picked leaves and roots and he cooked up a veritable banquet topped off with damson ketchup. It was a perfect way to see out the summer, sitting under a tree, the Somerset countryside rolling out before me, Glastonbury Tor shining like a beacon in the yonder. I’ll miss those halcyon summer days, but I won’t miss the sun for long. I’m back in the tropics, sweating in Panama. |
